MANILA, Philippines—Nowadays, companies are always at risk of losing data due to natural or man-made disasters. However, not every firm is equipped to perform fast data recovery afterwards. This may be due to the fact that data recovery requires expensive computer hardware and complex technology.

Seeing the need for a cost-effective data recovery solution, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) SME Nation devised a cloud-based data recovery service for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Dubbed “Disaster Recovery as a Service” (DRaaS), the solution is expected to enable SMEs to secure their mission-critical data despite not having a remote backup site of their own.

“Our DRaaS offering ensures t150309_DRaaS_02hat a company never needs to worry about permanent data loss no matter the damage, and that they can be up and running shortly after whatever disaster they have suffered,” said Kat Luna-Abelarde, PLDT’s first vice president and head of SME Nation.

DRaaS is also flexible in terms of service scope and budget requirement.
