Experts discovered a vulnerability in Facebook Messenger that allowed access to modify chat records and more.

Researchers have uncovered a high-risk vulnerability in Facebook’s Messenger app, according to a report in The Australian.

If exploited, a malicious user would be able to manipulate messages, chat history, links and shared photos at will. Cyber-criminals would even be able to implement automated algorithms that could alter future chat interactions.

Thankfully Facebook responded swiftly to the discovery and promptly created a patch to plug this vulnerability, which could have endangered the personal information of around 900 million users worldwide. Alfred Bayle
