OG defeats Team Liquid to claim Manila Major championship

OG Dota 2 (OG) claimed the title of the Manila Major champions on Sunday by defeating Team Liquid (Liquid) at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

OG beat Liquid 3-1 in a best of five series on the last day of the 6-day event, which ran from June 7 to June 12.

Consisting of Amer “Miracle-” Barqawi, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, David “MoonMeander” Tan, Andreas Franck “Cr1t” Nielsen and Tal “Fly” Aizik, the multinational team fended off the competition, beating eSports heavyweights such as Natus Vincere (NaVi), MVP Phoenix (MVP) and Newbee.

Team Liquid, a European team made up of Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen, Adrian “FATA-” Trinks, Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Borislavov, Kuro Salehi “KuroKy” Takhasomi and Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka, managed to score a single Game Two victory against OG.

The champions will take home $1,110,000, or 37% of the $3,000,000 prize pool.

The Manila Major is part of video game company Valve’s series of Major Championships leading up to the International, a tournament series known for its record-breaking prize pools.
