Homework is the bane of all students and who of us have never dreaded this in our early lives? One teacher in Texas, USA, believes that kids have suffered enough and is trying out a new “no homework” policy this new school year.

An article in abc13 Eyewitness News reports that Brandy Young, a second grade teacher at Godley Elementary School, is the proponent of this innovative policy.

Young had given out letters to parents of the children that she is in charge of, which reads:

“Research has been unable to prove that homework improves students performances. Rather, I ask that you spend your evenings doing things that are proven to correlate with student success. Eat dinner as a family, read together, play outside, and get your child to bed early.”

Samantha Gallagher, mother to 7-year-old Brooke and a student at Young’s class, was so pleased that she posted a photo of the aforementioned letter on her Facebook account.

Since then the post has gone on to be shared over 65,000 times and have earned the admiration as well as slight envy of parents around the globe.  Alfred Bayle
