A new Polaroid camera is about to enter the camera market, and it’s every bit as retro as it is modern.

The Polaroid Pop made its debut on the floorshow of CES 2017 in Las Vegas. It’s a digital instant camera in the tradition of Polaroid’s 3×4 inches instant print format but encased in a sleek and modern body.

“Polaroid is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2017 and we could not think of a better way to kick-off this milestone year than with the debut of the Polaroid Pop instant digital camera at CES 2017,” said Scott W. Hardy, president and CEO of Polaroid.

According to the company, Polaroid Pop is similar to the Polaroid Snap and Polaroid Snap Touch, as well as with the Polaroid Zip instant photo printer, because it features the same ZINK Zero Ink Printing Technology.

The rest of the Pop’s features include a 3.97-inch touchscreen LCD, a 20-megapixel CMOS sensor, dual LED flash, image stabilization, and 1080p full HD video recording. It also supports microSD card storage of up to 128GB.

Like many modern gadgets, the Polaroid Pop also has wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth which users can use to connect the camera to their mobile devices. This will turn the Pop into an instant photo printer through the Polaroid print app for iOS and Android. Images can be edited with filters, stickers and effects.

Finally, the camera has three color modes, namely black and white, color, and vintage sepia.

The Polaroid Pop owes its modern looks to a partnership with Ammunition and industrial designer Robert Brunner. Alfred Bayle
