Users of Facebook Messenger will now be able to share their precise geographic location with friends using the app, as an update rolls out to its iOS and Android builds.

Early testers told Facebook that Live Location “is helpful when trying to coordinate with friends, telling people how close you are when you’re on your way to an appointment, or even sharing where you are with your roommate when you’re on your way home at night,” wrote Messenger product manager Selena Wang in a news post on March 27.

Live Location works for a 60-minute period, or less if interrupted by the user, and also provides recipients with an estimate of how long it would take to arrive at that location by car.
