WATCH: ‘Marvel Heroes Omega’ soon powering onto consoles
Action game “Marvel Heroes” is on its way to consoles in the next few months as “Marvel Heroes Omega”, with a nine-chapter story campaign and a ton of characters from across the Marvel universe.
Created by Blizzard co-founder David Brevik of action RPGs “Diablo” and “Diablo II”, licensed free-to-play title “Marvel Heroes” is expected on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime before the end of May, following an announcement identifying Spring 2017 as its launch window.
The game had already launched on PC in 2013, accruing recommendations from sites like Co-Optimus, Giant Bomb, and Gamers with Jobs since then.
“If you’ve got a favorite Marvel superhero, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to start playing as him or her in Marvel Heroes Omega,” said Ben Gilbert, lead designer, and Dave Lee, community manager at game studio Gazillion Entertainment, in separate posts for the Xbox and PlayStation blogs respectively.
Gilbert confirmed that 38 heroes were lined up for the Spring 2017 launch, with Lee commenting that differences between the console version (or PS4 edition) and PC version would be spelt out in the near future.
Both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles will have closed betas for “Marvel Heroes Omega,” with details to be provided via marvelheroes.com.
Gilbert also specified that all heroes would be available to play until they hit level 10, after which an in-game currency is needed in order to progress further. Characters have a level cap of 60. JB
