The company estimates more than 25 million fans have engaged in their numerous FB pages. Playboy says they want to prevent data from these fans to be exposed to data gathering practices exposed in the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

“There are more than 25 million fans who engage with Playboy via our various Facebook pages, and we do not want to be complicit in exposing them to the reported practices,” Playboy said.

A few days earlier, SpaceX and Tesla also turned off their respective FB accounts on orders of CEO Elon Musk.

Meanwhile, the Instagram accounts of these companies appear to be still active. Said social media platform happens to be owned by Facebook.  /ra
