As “Destiny 2” readies to launch May 8’s Warmind expansion and “Stardew Valley” begins testing of a community farming mode, “Thrones of Britannia” and “The Forest” enjoy release week boosts and “Check, Please!” charms the indie crowd.

Action game “Destiny 2” has a big mission on its hands, with May 8’s paid expansion Warmind in place to entice current owners back and encourage those on the fence to take the leap.

With a customary mid-year release calendar lull approaching, “Destiny 2” has an opportunity to shore up its defenses before “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” and “Red Dead Redemption 2” arrive in October.

Accordingly, the core game is part of the Humble Store’s next subscribers’ Monthly bundle and is being offered as an early unlock to those that sign up before June 1.

Announced on May 4, the presence of “Destiny 2” had an immediate effect on Humble’s sales of the game’s year-one Season Pass, which includes Warmind as well as December 2017’s equivalent, Curse of Osiris.

Elsewhere, relaxing rural life sim “Stardew Valley” received a very long awaited multiplayer update on April 30, and rose up the ranks of both Humble and the Steam store. “The Forest” graduated from four years in Steam’s Early Access on the same day. New historical battlefield strategy “Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia” staked out territory high on Steam and Humble, as well as Fanatical, where a discount on “Pillars of Eternity II” incentivized uptake ahead of the adventure’s May 8 release.

Finally, on indie storefront Itch, it’s physical comedy “Check, Please!” that is in top spot, attracting players with the prospect of awkward dates made worse through the difficulty of maintaining proper etiquette via a two-buttoned mouse.

“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” has spent 58 consecutive weeks as the Steam store’s revenue-based bestseller.
