MANILA, Philippines -- To speed up operations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will create an online database that will include suspects' profiles and a warrants registry, Director General Avelino Razon said Tuesday.
"We saw the possibilities. It will help us break through the 21st century?hindi tayo pwedeng maiwanan [we cannot be left behind] so?we started going hi-tech," said Razon.
"We are now compiling a database. Warrant registry, lahat ng may [all of those facing] warrant[s] of arrest, wanted persons, [a] firearms registry, vehicle [information], will be available. Once the database is established, it should be shared," said Razon.
Razon said the database, which has been started in various police regional offices and PNP national headquarters (NHQ) in Camp Crame, will make possible the speedy capture of suspects and the immediate transfer of information.
"All regions are connected with NHQ. We are now going to provinces which are capable," said Razon.
He added that seminars have already been conducted to educate policemen on using the Internet.
