MANILA, Philippines -- IP-Converge said it has acquired data center facilities in Singapore to boost its parent firm IPVG Corp.?s gaming and business process outsourcing (BPO) businesses in the region.
The Singapore facility mirrors the company's data center located in Makati City. IP-Converge also has point-of-presence in Hong Kong through a partnership with telecom provider PCCW.
?This allows us to penetrate South East Asia?s fast-growing Internet data center market dominated by regional and multinational companies and where demand currently outpaces supply,? said IP-Converge president Rene Huergas.
The Singapore facility can provide the same co-location, bandwidth and disaster-recovery services to customers outside of the Philippines, he said.
It also marks IP-Converge's first acquisition outside of the Philippines, after establishing its partnership with PCCW last year.
IP-Converge has a partnership with US network security player Prolexic and its Hong Kong point-of-presence is intended to boost bandwidth in providing the latter's services for Asia Pacific customers.
IP-Converge is a unit under publicly listed technology firm IPVG Corp.
In a statement, Roger Stone, IPVG's deputy chairman, said he expects the Singapore acquisition to turn in profits within nine months, citing target markets in banking, online gaming, telecommunications and aviation sectors.
