MANILA, Philippines--The Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB), a Catholic group, is conducting an online forum on the national broadband network issue, inviting Filipinos overseas to participate.

A text message spread by the group invites people to participate by logging on to its website.

Users are invited to post questions and comments in the live forum on Monday, the anniversary of the 1986 Edsa Revolution. A team from SLB will answer queries from 12 noon to 2 p.m., according to the website.

The website embeds a chatroom from web-based messaging provider Meebo.

The SLB, based at the Ateneo de Manila University, describes itself as an association of religious, priests, seminarians, and lay people "committed to the service of the Filipino Church and the Filipino people."

It is the socio-political ministry of the Society of Jesus, a Catholic religious order.

On its website, the group calls on President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo lift Executive Order 464, which bans any Cabinet members to appear before Senate hearings without her consent, referring to NEDA chief Romulo Neri, a key witness in the NBN controversy.

The group is also calling on lawmakers to revise the Government Procurement Reform Act (or Republic Act 9184) to ensure greater transparency in government purchases.
