MANILA, Philippines -- Gurango Software Corp. (GSC) is eyeing several vertical markets in Singapore following its acquisition of Absalom Systems.
The Filipino-owned firm, founded by IT entrepreneur Joey Gurango, recently opened its office in Singapore.
Fermin Taruc, GSC's global chief operating officer, said the company is eyeing industries like oil and gas, marine and transport and businesses engaged in professional services.
"Yes, it is a competitive market," Taruc told INQUIRER.net via phone, referring to Singapore. "But our value proposition remains the same for all our global offices. We will continue to mine opportunities in these local markets."
The acquisition of Absalom gives Gurango presence in South Africa, Australia and Singapore. Prior to the acquisition last year, Taruc said Absalom had 30 customers in Singapore alone.
Until the opening of the new office and the launch of the Gurango brand, the company operated as Absalom Systems in Singapore.
Absalom sells HR software called Smart HR. After the merger, Gurango is expanding its product offerings in Singapore including payroll software. Gurango is also a value-added reseller of Microsofy Dynamics business software.
"We have a local on-site consulting team in Singapore. For product development and customer support, it will be provided by the Philippine office," Taruc said.
Gurango's Singapore office is located at the E-Center@Redhill office complex in the Bukit Merah business district.
