MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino-owned Gurango Software Corp. (GSC) has signed up new customers of its human resource (HR) software, including companies in Zimbabwe and Zambia.
The local software firm sells two kinds of human capital management or HCM products. SmartHR automates HR processes like recruitment and training while DynamicPay automates payroll systems.
GSC said it has signed up Armstrong World Industries and Probuild in Australia, Jetstar Asia Pacific and Stamford Hotel Group in Singapore, Mimosa Mining in Zimbabwe, Rand Merchant Bank in South Africa and National Breweries in Zambia.
The company gained market presence in Africa, Australia and Singapore after acquiring Absalom Systems last year. SmartHR was originally developed by Absalom, which was based in South Africa.
Fermin Taruc, GSC's global chief operating officer, said the company is after lucrative markets for HCM solutions in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The company recently opened its Singapore office and is set to open one in Dubai in United Arab Emirates. Taruc said GSC is targeting small and medium business or SMB users in these markets.
"Global perception of HCM is shifting across industries as companies begin to see people more as a value driver than as a component of overhead costs," Taruc said, noting increasing interest for HCM solutions in both enterprise and SMBs.
