MANILA, Philippines -- He has not even taken his seat as director general of the National Economic Development Authority, and a fake blog purportedly written by former Senator Ralph Recto is now up.
The eponymous blog, which his staff called "black propaganda," has a post which called those who did not vote for him "stupid."
"I can only say bobo ang mga hindi bumoto sa akin. Ako ay busog na. Iyong mga di pa busog ay silang magbubulsa sa term nila [I can only say that those who did not vote for me are stupid. I am sated. Those who are not yet sated will pocket money during their term]," it said.
The blog also paints him as someone who will always do the bidding of the President. It was supposed to have been written after he lost in the 2004 senatorial elections.
"My farewell speech may not sound emotional but I consider my stint in the Senate as fulfilling and a great achievement," it said.
"The Filipino nation has [sic] decided to boot me out of the Senate so I have to look forward to my life even outside the Senate floor. Anyway, Ate Glo [President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo] will not leave me empty-handed and without anything to work on," it added.
As such, the blog writer, claiming to be the principal author and defender of the expanded value-added tax law in the Senate, said measures would also be undertaken to tax overseas Filipino workers.
"The e-VAT bill is now producing results for the economy and the peso is stronger. Believe me in my previous blog entries -- more taxes will mean a stronger and more stable government," it said.
"For the OFWs, you just wait and see. You will one day be taxed in one way or another. There's already a think-tank working on this possibility," it added.
The blog also said that a spa facility in Taal in Recto’s home province Batangas would be built.
"It's [sic] feels so good to be myself again. Next move -- maybe I will open a SPA facility in Taal. Hindi pupuwede ang Koreano sa lupain natin [Koreans are banned in our country]," the blog said.
