MANILA, Philippines?Yahoo! has chosen a 23-year-old software engineer from Antipolo as the Philippine representative to the Open Hack Day event in Sunnyvale, California on September 12 and 13.
The Internet search giant said in an e-mail advisory on Wednesday it has chosen Andrei Navarro, a software engineer and developer who hails from Baguio City and currently resides in Antipolo.
"Andrei was chosen by a panel of Internet and technology experts ... based on his background, work experience, and developer knowledge. He will be joining fellow qualified Southeast Asian Hack Day Representatives from Malaysia and Singapore to represent the country in the Open Hack Day event," Yahoo said.
The Philippine panel of judges comprised Donald Lim, president and CEO of Yehey! Corporation; Michael Palacios, managing director of Havoc Digital; Resty Magno, managing director of Admax Network; Robert Locke, CTO of Digital Media Exchange; Jojo Anonuevo, general manager of Yahoo! Philippines; and Sau Sheong Chang, head of engineering at Yahoo! Southeast Asia.
Open Hack Day is part of Yahoo!'s efforts to promote web development and technology innovation.
