MANILA, Philippines?Getting the attention and budget of small-to-medium-businesses (SMBs) and small and home offices (SOHOs) is now the focus of many PC makers.
According to Michael Ngan, country manager of Lenovo Philippines, SMBs and SOHOs make up the big untapped segment of the IT market.
These businesses have particular IT needs, such as ease of deployment and use of PC hardware since many small companies maintain a small staff to manage their computer systems.
SMBs and SOHOs are also particular about the price and energy efficiency or electricity costs of PCs since small companies earn just enough, Ngan said.
To address the SMB and SOHO sectors, Lenovo recently launched an expanded line-up of energy efficient PCs that are competitively priced and come with support and warranty.
Made especially for SMBs, the ThinkPad Edge 13, priced at P38,000, is an ultra low voltage slim notebook PC that runs on Intel Core i3 processor (1.3 GHz, 3MB L2) with onboard 2GB DDR3 memory and 320 GB storage.
It comes preinstalled with Lenovo bundle of software that checks the condition of the PC for worry-free manageability. It also features a streamlined design with spill-resistant keyboard and multi-touchpad, apart from other onboard features like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, 2 MP camera, and Intel graphics.
For SOHO, Lenovo offers the IdeaPad V460?a full featured business notebook that runs on Intel Core i3 processor (2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 MB L3 Cache) with onboard 2 GB DDR3 memory, 320 GB storage and Intel HD graphics.
The IdeaPad V460 also features HDMI port and DVD reader/writer.
For a notebook with such good specs, the IdeaPad V460 carries a price tag of P37,000. Similar to the ThinkPad Edge 13, it comes preinstalled with Lenovo software bundle.
Ngan said SMBs and SOHOs could take advantage of the new notebooks low power consumption feature, portability, user-friendly management software, Lenovo tech support and warranty.
Lenovo also launched its new consumer PCs: The IdeaCentre B300, an all-in-one desktop solution, and the IdeaPad S10-3s, Lenovo?s version of the netbook.
The IdeaCentre B300 (price starts at P37,500) features a 21.5-inch full touchscreen and high definition (HD) capable display.
Powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the Idea B300 features the IdeaTouch or Lenovo?s own touch user interface/application that offers a range of touchable multimedia for high-performance gaming and entertainment. It also features an integrated TV tuner (for free TV streaming) and web camera.
The new IdeaPad S10-3s is now slimmer (16 mm thin lightweight profile) and comes with Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. The processor has also been updated to the newer Intel Atom N470 and the memory increased to 2GB DDR2. Preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Basic, the IdeaPad S10-3 carries a tag P22, 900.
?The release of our new line of PCs underscores our commitment to extend the exceptionally engineered PCs to varied market segments. Our customers in these market segments deserve new PCs to work and play with,? said Ngan.
