While many Filipinos have lost their jobs amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a tech solutions provider is offering an online learning course to help them find work again.
Manila-based Rabah Consulting teamed up with the Pratian Technologies, an India-based company, to bring the latter’s Discoveri program to the Philippines.
Discoveri is a 5-day course under SkillAssure, a business unit of Pratian Technologies. The organizations introduced the online program during a virtual press conference yesterday, Sept. 30.
The said learning course consists of live webinars, collaborative sessions with tech leader and discussions on software development, among others. However, those interested must first pass three rounds of assessment and interviews before being offered a spot in the Discoveri program.
Along with entering the program, SkillAssure will also help selected students secure employment opportunities or receive funds to boost their startups or launch one. Those who are not given funds and job placements but have finished the sessions will receive a certificate of completion which they can use in their employment profile.
Aside from helping Filipinos develop tech-related skills, Rabah Consulting also stated that it its partnering with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to help more furloughed people land jobs amid the health crisis.
After students graduate from the Discoveri course, they may continue to enrol in the main SkillAssure program that lasts from three to five months. While Discoveri is free, those who plan on proceeding to the other program must prepare around $2,000 to $4,000 (around P96,000 and P193,000).
However, Subramanian Sivakumar, chairman and CEO of Pratian Technologies stated that they aim to sponsor selected students for the main program during its first year in the Philippines.
He also pointed out that the group is targeting to train at least 10,000 Filipinos through their various courses on technology in the next decade. JB
