Globe Business leverages ICT services expertise to drive enterprise digitalization

Globe Business is leveraging its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) expertise to help enable the digital transformation of small and large enterprises in the Philippines. Utilizing its extensive ecosystem and global partnerships, Globe Business offers a complete suite of services in four important ICT areas—cybersecurity, data analytics, cloud, and the internet of things (IoT).

Globe Business SVP for Enterprise Peter Maquera shared this during a media round table discussion with the theme “Beyond Telco: Globe refocusing efforts to the needs of the new customer.”

Maquera said that the country’s ICT market has exploded, growing by an annual average of 24 percent since 2019 and is expected to continue until 2023. Parallel to this, Philippine data traffic and consumption have increased by 60 percent annually since 2015 and will be sustained until 2025. Consumption growth is being driven by the availability of high-speed internet and the use of social media.

“Globe Business conducted a study at the end of 2020 among 50 corporations, and we had one key insight. Companies that thrived during this pandemic were either way ahead in their digital journey or rapidly adapted to digital. This is why our pivot to ICT and consumer services using our customer-first and data-driven approach is timely and key to driving new revenues while helping companies in their digital journey. We aim to be the trusted advisor for companies’ digital transformation,” he said.

Maquera said Globe Business enables its customers’ digital infrastructure resilience by leading through data-driven insights and multi-cloud expertise. Key to this is strategic acquisitions and partnerships with global ICT leaders.

For instance, Globe acquired Seattle-based Cascadeo, one of the few premier level service partners of Amazon Web Services last year to deliver expert know-how to Philippine companies in their cloud transformation journey. It also partnered with leading global providers such as NASDAQ-listed Secureworks, one of the top-rated cybersecurity companies in the world, to deliver best-in-class solutions.

“Ransomware and cyberattacks have become more sophisticated during this pandemic, with incidents rising by 435 percent last year versus 2019. With a majority of the workforce operating remotely, cybersecurity has evolved since we now need to protect everyone, everywhere, outside the walls and security of offices. Companies no longer need to go outside the country to get the best cybersecurity, network, and cloud services. Globe Business has all these services and more,” Maquera added.

He also noted that increasing digital adoption is fueling the demand for more data centers in the Philippines, and it is one area that Globe Business is keen on investing in. Hyperscalers and content and digital media companies now account for 80 to 90 percent of local capacity, and there is much room for growth and opportunity for the Philippines.

Maquera also presented several use cases on digital transformation with logistics, banking, and utility companies that have partnered with Globe Business. An example is a company from the energy sector that now boasts remote operation monitoring and geofencing, IoT sensors for equipment tracking, real-time analytics, and transmission of data for environmental compliance.

Before joining forces with Globe Business, the said utility company had to consolidate data manually, had no real-time monitoring on production, no dashboard to help with their equipment, and no stable connection to enable digitalization.

“By anticipating what our customers need and want now and in the future, we are able to roll out innovations that give businesses a competitive edge. We already know that 95 percent of Filipinos will continue to use at least one digital service post-pandemic. Companies really need to go digital or lose out in the process. We will keep to our promise of digital inclusivity, where no man gets left behind,” he concluded.

Globe strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the UN Global Compact principles and contributes to 10 UN SDGs.
