How To Use The iOS 16 Photo Cutout Feature

A new iOS 16 feature lets users choose specific parts of photos, copy, and then paste them into other apps. For example, let us say you took a photo of your cat in your living room.

The iOS 16 cutout feature lets you select your cat and remove the background. Afterward, you may copy and paste it to another app and send it from there.

If you have heard of it, you probably saw it from a TikTok video. User “frankmcshan” clip says, “This iOS 16 feature will blow your mind.” It has gained more than 500,000 likes at the time of writing, so perhaps it is impressive!

Start by choosing a picture with your desired subject. Let us say you want to share an image of your new Nissan Z SUV. Hold your finger down on the vehicle until a glowing white outline appears around its edges.

Lift your finger once you see the white lines. Also, you should see a bubble over the automobile with the Copy and Share options. Let us start with what you can do with the former.

Select the Copy option to have a duplicate of that subject in your clipboard. Then, you can unleash your creative side by placing it on a photo editing app.

You may want to create a meme with that photo of your new car. Alternatively, you could tap the Share button to immediately send the car picture to your friends via Messenger and other social media apps.

The iOS 16 photo cutout feature brought attention to a slight annoyance with the latest update. Users rant about their phones constantly asking for their permission to paste content between apps.

For example, let us say you tried to paste this article from the Safari app to the Messages app. Your iPhone would ask you, “‘Messages’ would like to paste from ‘Safari.’ Do you want to allow this?”

That is fine the first time. After all, people should check out the latest Inquirer Tech blogs. Unfortunately, your phone will ask permission each time you want to transfer files between apps.

The rationale might be for data security. In other words, Apple might look out for its users by ensuring they do not accidentally share sensitive information.

Other smartphone brands let users adjust apps always to allow data sharing. At the time of writing, Apple has not released a similar solution. As a result, it could affect your experience with the iOS 16 photo cutout feature.
