There are several untestable reasons why a person would want to edit or delete their Facebook post, ranging from misspelled words, grammatical errors, wrong post timing, wrong audience setting, and several other issues; whatever the case might be, there is an easy fix for you. You can edit, delete, and restore deleted Facebook posts.
Below are step-by-step instructions on editing, deleting, and restoring your Facebook posts on both Web Version (for mostly PC users) and the Mobile app (the process is the same for android, iOS, and every other mobile device.)
On Desktop
- First, you’ll need to locate the post you want to edit on your profile, then click on the horizontal three dots at the top-right of the post.
- On the dropdown menu, click on Edit post, then make your changes to the Facebook post, and click on Save.
- To delete, you must select the “Move to trash” option on the dropdown menu and tap Move.
Note: Just like your computer’s recycle bin, posts aren’t permanently deleted; they are only moved to the trash folder on Facebook. You can easily restore the post within 30 days before it is permanently deleted.
There are two other editorial options available on the Web version of Facebook; “Edit audience” (where you can choose to make your post public or viewed by friends only or no one) and “Edit date” (this is exclusive to just the web version of Facebook).
On a Mobile Device
- On your profile, scroll down to the post you wish to edit and click on the horizontal three dots at the top-right of the post
- On the pop-up menu, Select the “Edit post” option, make your changes and click on Save.
- To delete a post, look for the “Move to Recycle bin” option on the pop-up, select it, and tap on Move.
Note: posts aren’t permanently deleted; they only go to the recycle bin on Facebook, where you can easily restore the post within 30 days before the deletion status is permanent.
On the pop-up menu, you can also Edit privacy; you can make the post visible to the public, your friends only, or no one at all.
