Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced a new Instagram feature called Broadcast Channels. The company blog states:
“They are public, one-to-many messaging tools for creators to invite all of their followers into and engage with their most interested fans.”
It lets creators share text, photos, videos, and voice notes to update their followers. Also, they could create polls to check fan feedback.
How do Instagram Broadcast Channels work?
The new feature is only open to a few content creators in the United States. Eventually, Meta will expand access to all Instagram users.
For now, let us say you can use Broadcast Channels. You may start one from your inbox by sending your first broadcast channel message.
If you offer Subscriptions, you can set the audience to “all followers” so that your entire fanbase can view your channel posts.
On the other hand, you may limit your Instagram broadcast channel to paid subscribers. Consequently, they could view your most exclusive content.
Then, your followers will receive a one-time notification to join the channel. Activate it, and your followers may invite new participants.
They could use the “join channel” sticker in Stories or attach the channel link to their profiles.
A one-time notification will appear in their inbox if someone clicks on it. If that person is not yet a follower, they must become one first.
The person could open the channel once they open the notification. Also, followers gain numerous functions in the broadcast channel.
For example, they could react to content and vote in surveys. However, they cannot send messages.
Anyone can open the Instagram broadcast channel and see the content. Yet, only followers may receive alerts regarding the latest posts.
Followers may leave, mute channels, and turn off notifications anytime. At the time of writing, only these creators have access to Instagram Broadcast Channels:
