Intel Arc Pro A60 and Pro A60M Next-Gen GPUs Unveiled

12:40 PM June 07, 2023

US chipmaker Intel announced its latest Arc Alchemist graphics cards: the Intel Arc Pro A60 and A60M. They are the company’s fastest workstation solutions, providing more memory and GPU cores than the A40 and A50. As a result, these new GPUs are ideal entry-level to lower-midrange graphics solutions.

You may want to check these if you are building a new PC. If you need a budget gaming computer, the Intel Arc Pro cards are enough for playing the latest games. Also, they are a better choice for architects, video makers, and other creative users.

These GPUs will let you run 3D design apps like Autodesk without lagging. This article will discuss the specifications of the upcoming Intel Arc Pro A60 and Pro A60M graphics cards. Then, I will cover the potential applications of this device.

What are the features of the Intel Arc Pro GPUs?

FEATURED STORIES

The single-slot Arc Pro A60 is significantly more powerful than the A60M mobile graphics card. That is why I will cover the former first. The A60 has 16 Xe Cores, 256 EUs, 16 RT units, and 156 matrix engines.

Also, it has 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus. Back then, only the mobile A370M offers that capacity. Soon, PC users will get a desktop alternative, the Intel Arc Pro A60.

That new graphics card will use the ACM-G12 as an in-between chip. Moreover, the A60 will use a compact single-slot cooling solution. As a result, it can fit almost any chassis that don’t need half-height form factors. In other words, you may find it easy to slot into your PC.

Intel did not provide specific dimensions. Tom’s Hardware estimates show that the A60 GPU is approximately 242 x 111 x 20 mm. It is a relatively small graphics card with a “blower-style inspired” cooling system.

It has a single fan at the rear that exhausts air in front of the card. Moreover, it has ventilation ports in the IO bracket. Its power consumption peaks at 130W TBP. Meanwhile, the mobile A60M has similar specs but has smaller memory.

Instead of 12GB, it uses 8GB on a 128-bit bus. Both GPUs have upgraded PCIe lanes. The previous Pro GPUs had 8 PCIe lanes. In contrast, the Intel Arc Pro A60 and A60M have 16.

Despite these improvements, other graphics cards from Intel and other companies are faster. The Intel Arc A770 has double the computing power of the Arc Pros, and it has 32 Xe Cores.

Nevertheless, the upcoming Intel graphics cards are great upper entry-level to lower midrange options.  They are great for professional designers but not for gaming. Check AMD, Nvidia, and other brands for video game graphics cards.

The Intel website says the Arc Pro GPUs are great for architecture, construction, engineering, manufacturing, and design jobs. It can run the following related programs:

  • Autodesk 3DS Max, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Inventor, Maya
  • Bentley MicroStation
  • Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS
  • Nemetscheck VectorWorks
  • PTC Creo
  • Siemens NX
  • Siemens Solid Edge

The Intel Arc Pro graphics cards are also great for media and entertainment programs like Blender. Also, it can run ray tracing and rendering libraries from the Intel oneAPI Rendering Toolkit.

The US chipmaker says its upcoming GPUs will let you create “high-performance, high-fidelity visual experiences at scale.” The Arc Pros will help your AutoCAD render design details if you’re an architect.

It would provide enough RAM to convert your CAD creations into formats for other programs like Adobe Photoshop. Also, the Intel Arc Pro GPUs are ideal for beginner digital artists.

You don’t want to spend too much on a new PC, but yours must be powerful enough to run designer apps like Adobe Illustrator. These graphics cards will likely help you hit the sweet spot for optimal performance within your budget.

Conclusion

Intel will soon release the Arc Pro A60 and A60M, next-gen graphics cards perfect for midrange budgets. Tom’s Hardware says the former would likely cost $175.

That is significantly more affordable than Nvidia’s latest graphics cards. The Nvidia RTX 4080 costs $1,199, and the RTX 4090 is roughly worth $1,599.
