The age of artificial intelligence is here, and tech firms are making sure it is. Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced last year that his company will improve its services with AI. That is why everyone should expect every gadget to run AI soon. It recently launched its Gemini AI assistant, but the search engine firm isn’t done yet.
A few days after Gemini’s launch, Google announced a new AI feature for its Chrome web browser called “Help me write.” Its official website says it “will help you start writing or refine something you’ve already written.” At the time of writing, it is only available on Windows PCs and Macs in the United States.
What can Google ‘Help me write’ do?
The search engine company says its latest AI feature can “understand the context of the webpage you’re on to suggest relevant content.”
That means the program has various purposes. It could help refine text for “selling a piece of furniture, submitting a restaurant review, or inquiring about a hotel reservation.”
For example, Google “Help me write” can help write a review for garden shears. It can pull out relevant details about garden shears from a webpage to support a commenter’s recommendation to guide other gardening enthusiasts.
The official webpage shared an illustration showing a user inputting the prompt “plane lands at 9 – ask to check in early.”
In response, the tool produced this statement: “My flight is scheduled to arrive at 9 am, and I would like to check in as soon as possible. Is there any way I can check in early? If not, when is the earliest time I can check in?”
Another example from The Verge asked the bot: “Write a request to return a defective bike helmet that has a line crack despite not being stated as covered in the product warranty.”

Here’s the response of “Help me write”:
“I would like to return a bike helmet that I recently purchased. The helmet developed a crack along the line where the helmet is joined together.
“This crack was not caused by an impact or other damage. The product warranty does not state that this type of damage is covered. I would like to return the helmet and request a refund.”
US users can try the Gemini-powered feature by signing into Chrome, opening “Settings” from the three-dot menu, and then selecting the “Experimental AI” page. Then, toggle on the “Help me write” feature.
