What do we know about the Samsung smart ring?
CNBC says Samsung first teased the Galaxy Ring in January 2024 when it launched the S24 phone.
Hon Pak, head of Samsung’s digital health team, shared more details about the gadget with the news outlet.
He said the ring has sensors that measure heart rate, respiratory rate, the amount of movement during sleep, and the time it takes for a user to fall asleep.
It will also provide a “vitality score,” which collects data about physical and mental readiness to see how productive you can be.”
Pak revealed that Samsung plans to enable its smart ring to perform contactless payments. “We have a whole team that is looking at that,” he stated.

“But I think clearly looking at multiple different use cases for the Ring beyond just health, for sure,” he added.
He likewise shared that the tech firm is developing glucose monitoring and blood pressure sensing for its wearable devices.
CNET says that there’s no need to get the Galaxy Ring if you already have another smart wearable.
However, wearing both simultaneously may enable them to deliver higher-quality data than they could separately.
Pak says the smart ring will go on sale this year, but he did not mention the cost.
