Meet the visionaries behind Infinix PH’s award-winning campaigns

It’s not every day that one can attend an international awards ceremony in Istanbul, Turkey, but the Infinix Philippines team has the special privilege of doing so. Infinix, one of the top tech brands in the country, recently received two prestigious awards at the Stevies International Business Awards (IBA) for its gaming and e-commerce efforts.

Infinix Philippines bagged Gold under the eSports event category for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang “Guard Your Goddess Miya” (GYGM) Tournament, and a Bronze award for Most Innovative TikTok Channel for the Infinix 24/7 Online TikTok Shop. This was a first for the tech brand – an extremely proud moment for everyone involved.

“Winning these Stevies is a huge deal for us. It shows that we’re doing something right, especially in how we innovate and connect with our audience in both the tech and gaming spaces,” says Jelly Buan, Infinix Philippines Senior PR Manager.

Behind the award-winning projects is a passionate team that helped make it happen, from conceptualization to execution.

Bringing Guard Your Goddess Miya and 24/7 Online TikTok Live to life

2023 was a busy year for Infinix Philippines. In June, they hosted GYGM, which had an online semi-finals and an on-ground grand finals at Market! Market! featuring talented young eSports pros. Around the Christmas season, the team launched Infinix’s first 24/7 Online TikTok Live.

GYGM was Infinix’s first on-ground mobile eSports event, so they needed to stand out from others. The team worked with ID8, Inc. to come up with a creative take on the usual MLBB tournament, and also in managing the online and on-ground events.

In GYGM, competitors played regular 5v5 matches, but each team was required to have one Miya player, aka the goddess that everyone needed to protect. They were also tasked with eliminating the opposing team’s Miya player to earn more points.

The event was met with a lot of excitement from MLBB fans. Many cheered to support their favorite teams, and got to experience Infinix’s impressive line of gaming phones. “We wanted to give the players and fans a fun, competitive platform that would not only highlight the gaming skills of the community, but also showcase the power of Infinix devices. It was all about celebrating the gaming culture in a way that really resonated with people,” said Buan.

Raia Galang, former ID8 Accounts Supervisor, said she’ll always remember the competitors’ passion and joy during the tournament, as well as the collaboration with Infinix. “In eSports, it’s really the players who drive the energy of the event. It was heartwarming seeing how happy they were playing with the Infinix Chief Gaming Officers (CGOs),” she said.

Infinix Philippines continued the upward momentum with the 24/7 Online TikTok Live, an innovative way to make Infinix phones more accessible through fun and interactive streams. It debuted during the brand’s first Super Brand Day on TikTok, where hosts put the ultra-fast gaming capabilities of the Infinix NOTE 30 Series in the forefront. The brand was able to reach a whopping 11 million sales during the first stream.

Since then, Infinix expanded its manpower to continue running 24/7 TikTok streams smoothly. Irish Del Rosario, Infinix Philippines PR Supervisor, said that they wanted to continue “creating experiences that blended entertainment with technology.” Because of this, the brand has continued to dominate the top Live Streaming Brand spot under the Tech category on TikTok.

“We’re super proud of how we pushed the boundaries of what live streaming can be. Keeping our audience engaged around the clock wasn’t easy, but we found creative ways to keep things fresh and exciting,” Del Rosario said.

With such ambitious and large-scale executions, challenges were inevitable. Both Infinix and ID8 teams mentioned logistical hurdles and some miscommunications while ensuring that everything ran smoothly. Fortunately, the teams managed to resolve the issues through strong collaboration.

“Instead of letting these challenges bring us down, we used those moments to strengthen our bond. These reminded us that we’re all driven for success,” Galang said.

Taking home the Stevies

It was a very lively day in the Infinix and ID8 offices when it was announced that GYGM won Gold and the 24/7 TikTok Live won Bronze. While there wasn’t any doubt about Infinix’s chances of winning in the Stevies IBA, it was still a pleasant surprise to everyone that the brand bagged two awards, most especially the top prize for GYGM.

“Winning the Gold for GYGM is such an incredible feeling!” Galang said. “From day one, I believed in what Infinix stands for, and I’m really proud to have been part of this journey.”

Buan said that their Stevies IBA wins validated their work and the impact that Infinix has made in the community. “It’s incredibly rewarding for the team,” she said. “These awards are definitely a big milestone, and they also raise the bar for us moving forward.”

After winning the “Oscars of business” and personally receiving the trophies in Istanbul, the Infinix and ID8 teams are more motivated than ever.

“We want to keep pushing boundaries in creating unique experiences for our Infinix users and fans,” Buan said. “Our focus will be on continuing to innovate in mobile gaming and content creation – always staying ahead of the curve and giving our fans something new and exciting to look forward to.”
