MANILA, PHILIPPINES—On November 11, 2024, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) received an email claiming no data leakage or personal data breach occurred in the GCash incident.
The e-wallet stated that customer credentials or data were not compromised in the incident.
Still, the NPC will conduct an independent investigation in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA).

The investigation will verify the absence of a personal data breach, ensuring accountability and transparency in protecting GCash users’ personal data.
The NPC emphasizes that it focuses on protecting personal information as defined under the DPA.
Also, it advises users to direct complaints regarding the monetary aspect of online transactions to the appropriate financial regulatory agency.
The Commission urges individuals affected by the GCash incident to reach out to the NPC through info@privacy.gov.ph and provide relevant information to assist with our investigation.
