Meta announces CapCut-like video editing app called Edits

Meta announced its upcoming new video editing app called Edits after President Donald Trump restored TikTok in the US.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared details regarding the upcoming app on Threads. At the time of writing, the Edits app is only available on the Apple App Store.

The App Store will let everyone download the app on March 13, 2025, but iOS users may pre-order the app today. 

What are the Edits app’s features?

On January 20, 2025, Mosseri said, “Today, we’re announcing a new app called ‘Edits’ for those of you who are passionate about making videos on your phone.”

Its App Store page lists the following features:

Soon, IG users and other social media influencers may have a new way to prep their content to go viral. 

TikTok users could use that as an alternative to their favorite video editor CapCut. 

Coincidentally, Trump recently promised to undo the TikTok ban.

Instagram has been going through numerous changes. Some, like the new rectangular grid, received mixed reactions.
