Perplexity AI released a new feature called Deep Research, which performs in-depth research within minutes.
If it sounds familiar, that’s because OpenAI released a feature earlier this month with the same name.

It’s available for free, providing five queries daily for non-subscribers and 500 queries for Pro users.
Research becomes more AI-driven with Perplexity
Try the new Deep Research feature today by heading to perplexity.ai and selecting “Deep Research” from the mode selector.
The official website says it answers questions in two to four minutes, which takes humans many hours.
Perplexity AI’s Deep Research reads documents and reasons its next move, refining its research plan as it learns more about a topic.
Then, the agent turns its data into a clear and comprehensive report. Afterward, you can export the final report to a PDF or document.
Alternatively, you may convert it into a Perplexity Page and share it with colleagues or friends.
“It excels at a range of expert-level tasks—from finance and marketing to product research–and attains high benchmarks on Humanity’s Last Exam,” the website claims.
Humanity’s Last Exam is a benchmark for AI systems, which consists of over 3,000 questions across 100+ subjects like math and history.
Perplexity AI’s Deep Research earns a 21.1% accuracy score on Humanity’s Last Exam, which is significantly higher than most leading models.
The new feature is available on web browsers. Soon, the AI firm will roll it out to iOS, Android, and Mac.
