Apple unveils affordable iPhone 17e

MANILA— Apple announced on March 2, 2026, a new lower-cost member of the iPhone 17 lineup, the iPhone 17e. The new iPhone features an improved display, durability, performance, battery life, and camera compared to previous generations of iPhone series. 

With a six point one-inch display, the iPhone 17e offers a wider display viewing experience. It also features a Ceramic Shield 2, which will be available in all iPhone 17 family, that contains a better scratch resistance than previous iPhone series.

Affordable but powerful

Users can also experience A19, a 6-core CPU built in technology, in iPhone 17e. While in gaming, iPhone 17e supports demanding AAA level titles using its 4-core GPU. IOS26 will also be featured in the new iPhone along with Apple Intelligence.

iPhone 17e can charge up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes using a USB type-C wired charger. The iPhone 17e also supports MagSafe for faster wireless charging up to 15W.

Meanwhile, iPhone 17e users can shoot with a 48MP Fusion camera, which gives users an optical-quality 2x Telephoto zoom. Users can also capture videos in 4K with Dolby Vision at up to 60fps.

Kaiann Drance, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, emphasized that with iPhone17e’s performance and features, users will have a compelling option in the iPhone 17 series.

“With A19 for incredible performance, double the entry storage, a smarter camera system, and enhanced durability, iPhone 17e is designed to stay fast, secure, and valuable for years to come,” Drance said.

Drance also added that their customers wanted their products to last, which iPhone 17e promises to deliver.

Customers who purchase iPhone 17e may receive three free months of Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, Apple Music, and Apple TV with a new subscription. 

iPhone 17e will be available in the colors soft pink, white, and black in 256GB and 512GB storage capacities, starting at ₱44,990. Preorders will be available soon. (By Regine Andres, INQUIRER.net Intern)
