Free connectivity services in Mindanao after 7.8 earthquake

MANILA, Philippines – DITO is offering free WiFi, calls, and charging services to communities in General Santos after the Mindanao was struck with a 7.8 earthquake on June 8. The company also restored 100% of its network services across areas affected.

The Tulong Tulong DITO initiative is a temporary connectivity hub for residents that are still experiencing power interruptions. 

“In times like these, our priority is to help communities reconnect with their loved ones and access the support they need. We are grateful that our employees and partners are safe, and we remain committed to serving the people of Mindanao as they recover and rebuild,” said Eric Alberto, President and CEO of DITO Telecommunity.

Impact of Mindanao quake

According to the DSWD, over 500,000 individuals were affected by the earthquake. The most recent report had a death toll of 46, while injuring 1,100 others. 

Globe had also deployed its emergency support to provide free data and messaging to its customers in South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani. 

Additionally, relief drives have been launched by independent initiatives, celebrities, and the government to aid those affected by the Mindanao quake.
