PLDT group spices up mobile postpaid offers

MANILA, Philippines—Mobile networks Smart Communications and Sun Cellular are introducing their respective unique subscriber plans amid efforts to beef up the Philippine Long Distance Telephone group’s postpaid user base.

In a statement, Smart said it had introduced its “Freedom” plans. Unlike other postpaid lines, Freedom plans do not have fixed monthly fees, allowing users to pay only for what they consume.

“Freedom gives subscribers the choice to use their postpaid plan the way they see fit. No fixed monthly service fees, no lock-ins and no complicated application process,” Smart Postpaid Business head Kathy C. Carag said.

The Smart Postpaid Freedom Plan enables users to purchase service “buckets” such as Trio Talk 150, which offers 150 minutes of calls to Smart, Sun and Talk ‘N Text subscribers for 15 days for only P150, and All Text 200, which includes 2,000 texts to all networks and 150 megabytes of mobile surfing, good for 30 days, for only P200.

In a separate statement, Smart sister brand Sun Cellular launched a new pooled-hours broadband plan for its Internet arm, Sun Broadband Wireless.

The new Group Plans allow several users to share surfing hours under a single postpaid plan. Those seeking a shared Internet connection may now avail themselves of the Sun Broadband Group Plan 999 with three lines and 200 combined Internet hours, or the Group Plan 699 with two broadband lines and 130 pooled Internet hours.

These multiple broadband lines are billed under a single account, Sun said.
