Philippines’ Team Encore beats Indonesia in ROOC Tyr Cup Finals
MANILA, Philippines – After breezing through back-to-back sweeps in the semis and grand finals, Filipino representatives Team Encore won the inaugural Tyr Cup of the Ragnarok Origin Classic, held in Bangkok, Thailand, July 11.
The all-Filipino squad dominated Indonesia’s Team Poek in all four maps of the series. Showing draft mastery and disciplined execution, Team Encore snowballed their way to the crown.
In their post-match interview, Team Encore’s Julius ‘Banoobs’ Mariano dedicated the win to their partners: “All the sacrifices of our partners. Our wives. Because this is such a huge commitment: the practice of being a pro.”
Aside from the title of being the first Tyr Cup champions, the team will also take home $500,000 or roughly ₱30,000,000.
It’s another crown to add on as well for ML:BB world champion Jonmar “OhMyv33nus” Villaluna to boast, as it marks OhMyv33nus’ second international title in a different game.

Celebrating PH pride
Players from the Ragnarok Origin Online Classic community gathered at a watch party in Makati to watch the grand finals. From Team Encore’s guild members to their supporters inside and outside the game, everyone joined in celebrating the team’s feat.
With the inaugural season of the Tyr Cup coming to an end, everyone hopes to see Team Encore defend the throne on their home soil.
“This is the first time in history na nagkaroon ng ganitong kalaking prize pool para sa tournament for a mobile game, and at the same time, yung pinaka-pinapangarap namin na magkaroon ng esports-related and esports track for a mobile game that is Ragnarok lore, nagkaka-totoo na,” Immortal MBGG remarked.
“Kung dito man magkakaroon ng susunod, halimbawa Season 2, syempre, magiging isang karangalan para sa atin ‘yun,” he added.
The all-Filipino squad featured streamers and some known household names in the world of esports like Julius ‘BanoobsDR’ Mariano, Johnmar ‘SUN33V’ Villaluna, Awie Angelo ‘AfyGDPS’ Reyes, Edward Joseph ‘Yamato’ Raymundo, Angelo ‘DocxBR’ Docosin, Joshua Dayne ‘WeeJOSHBR’ Abrera, James Michael ‘Nasmi’ Doron, Stephen Martin ‘WeeGetziiBR’ Doron, Kyle Bernard ‘WeeYomiBR’ Ante, and Michael Angelo ‘WeeFrzttBR’ Luy.
