“The industry’s first four-socket servers to incorporate HP ProActive Insight Architecture, the HP ProLiant Gen8 servers, significantly reduce the time spent on maintenance tasks through high levels of automation and continuous monitoring of system health, saving IT staff more than 30 days of administration time a year,” HP said in a statement.
The new servers also have a smaller footprint and are denser “delivering increased compute power in less space,” it said.
Veronica Escalante, Category Manager of Industry Standard Servers and Software of HP Philippines, said that companies have less time in coming up with innovations because they are kept busy in maintaining old server infrastructures.
The new ProLiant DL560 and ProLiant BL660c servers are both equipped with the ProActive Insight Architecture that “accelerates problem resolution and reduces unplanned downtime.”
“Through self-monitoring, self-diagnosing and proactive support, clients can resolve problems up to 66 percent faster,” HP said.
The Gen8 servers, using the ProActive Insight Architecture, constantly monitors 1600 parameters in the server for any fault that may occur and prevent it, she said.
This allows it to monitor itself, like when a doctor checks on a person if he or she is sick, Escalante said.
The IT staff of companies will also have less trouble in finding problems on the server because the server keeps a log of all the faults it has monitored and prevented, she added.
“Through these new servers, IT staff can become more agile,” Escalante said. “Especially when we now live in an ‘instant’ world where customer want information from the internet instantly.”
She said that space was a very important factor in data centers and these new servers we’re targeted specifically for “more power in less space.”
Escalante said that the servers are also more cost efficient for companies giving a return of investment in as short as five months.
Also adding to the cost savings of the server was its smart and efficient power consumption. Escalante said that the servers can automatically turn off some parts, such as ventilation fans, when it is not too active like during off peaks hours.
“The advanced technologies of the HP ProLiant Gen8 servers, tested in real-world data centers and built with 150 client-inspired design innovations, eliminate common server problems that cause failures, downtime, and data loss,” HP said.
