MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice (DoJ) has received its first complaint for violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Justice Assistant Secretary and head of the DoJ Cybercrime Office Geronimo Sy said they received the complaint from a 17-year-old female via email who has been a victim of cyberpornography that has gone viral on the internet for years.
Sy told reporters Tuesday that the complaint was received on Oct. 3.
The victim was only 15 when the video was taken.
When asked how they intend to proceed with the complaint, Sy said they are still determining what action to take “because this (law) is fairly new.”
He said for the meantime, the victim will undergo counselling.
