2 Taiwanese nationals face cybercrime case

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday filed with the Department of Justice a criminal complaint against two Taiwanese nationals allegedly involved in cybercrimes.

Suspects Wu Shau Wei and Hao Chen are facing a complaint for violation of Republic Act 8484 or the Access Device Act for using a gateway machine that converts international calls to local calls.

The two were arrested Tuesday at the Pacific Village in Muntinlupa.

The police conducted the operation upon the complaint of Globe Telecom which traced the use of their line for suspects’ scheme.

People who want to call abroad will pay the suspects instead of the telecom company for cheaper long distance calls.
