Information management made easier with HP

MANILA, Philippines – Hewlett-Packard has launched its improved Information Management Portfolio which seeks to simplify the way organizations manage their data without risking or reducing efficiency.

The portfolio was enhanced as the need to implement efficient information management schemes arose amidst increasing data, lack of data ownership, and varied information management policies, said HP Software Southeast Asia General Manager Damien Wong.

Stating that information has become more of a burden than an asset for some organizations, Wong said that necessary information must be delivered in order to harvest value, break the information silos, and improve information management.

What organizations needed was a “fundamental shift… a holistic approach to information management,” said Wong.

He said that HP listed six steps to achieve a simple yet effective information management system:

To achieve the ideal environment for information management, Wong said information must be captured, monitored, protected and retained.

Information also needs to be “findable” before it can be implemented, he said.

The improved portfolio lends a hand to organizations in information management through:

•the HP Information Management Services which handles information in any phase of its life cycle from capture and creation to removal and retirement;

•the HP Integrated Archive Platform (IAP) which can handle up to 1 petabyte of data, 300,000 users and 20 million e-mail messages per day;

•the HP TRIM Enterprise Records Management which has been equipped with multijurisdictional retention for automatic complex retention schedules across multiple countries and within multinational enterprises;

•the HP Database Archiving which, with the HP TRIM, can provide one platform to manage structured information and connectivity to archive data from legacy systems during the application retirement process;

•the HP Data Protector Software which provides Granular Recovery Extension for VMware vSphere® and snapshot support for 3PAR and non-HP arrays, at up to 70 percent less the total cost of ownership;

•the HP Data Protector Reporter which provides improved insight into backup operations with enterprise-level, multisite global analysis and reporting; and

•the HP Storage Essentials which reduces costs for the management of physical and virtual enterprise information infrastructure. It also improves alignment of storage to business needs.
