MANILA, Philippines—Say goodbye to the constant transferring of files from one computer to another and say hello to a new way of accessing any document through any device anywhere.
Microsoft officially launched in the Philippines Tuesday its new Office 365 software with cloud service that can be installed in up to 10 devices using just one license.
The new Office applications will still have the complete productivity tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and others. The new feature of Office is its cloud service which allows users to save their documents online and later access it from a different computer or device.
“The new Microsoft Office allows you to get things done at home, school, and work through any device, anytime, and anywhere,” Tovia Va’aelua, Microsoft Office Division Lead, said in a statement during the launch.
“Office used to belong to your machine now it belong to you and works across all your devices,” he said.
The application can be downloaded and installed in as fast as 10 minutes into a computer or a device, Va’aelua said. A one-year subscription license allows Office 365 to be installed in up to 10 devices for just P3,499.
He said that Microsoft provides the “best productivity tools across all devices,” because it will be available even on Android and Apple devices.
Users will be able to fully-customize their Office using their Microsoft account such as viewing which files they have access to.
Office 365 will also come free with 20 GB of storage on Microsoft’s SkyDrive cloud storage, and 60 minutes of free Skype calls to any mobile phone, landline, or PC anywhere in the world.
The new Office was previously a product for enterprises but now being brought to consumers so they can also use its many features to improve their productivity, Va’aelua said.
Social networking engines can be fully integrated into Office 365, he added. One student who tried the new software was able to post into his blog straight from Word, Va’aelua added.
Office 365 was released worldwide last January 30, 2013 and is available in 162 markets and 21 languages. A 30-day free trial is available at www.microsoft.com.ph/office.
