Smartmatic lets PPCRV examine audit logs

MANILA, Philippines—Election technology provider Smartmatic will allow the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) to examine its audit logs amid allegations of data tampering.

PPCRV head Henrietta De Villa said that that the poll watchdog’s technology department and board of trustees would conduct the examination of Smartmatic’s audit logs Thursday afternoon.

“Regarding the complains of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and Liberal Party (LP) about the alleged tampering of data in the transparency server by Smartmatic,  Smartmatic is opening their audit logs to us,” she said.

UNA, through campaign manager Toby Tiangco, said on Wednesday that a Smartmatic officer has manipulated data being churned out in the parallel and unofficial tally of the PPCRV.
