MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has launched a videotaping contest to promote voter registration for the barangay elections in October.
“Contestants must create a short video showing how important it is for them to register as voters,” said Comelec education and information director James Jimenez, adding that the competition was part of the poll agency’s voter education drive.
Entries must be uploaded on Youtube with the title “Bakit ako magpaparehistro” and tagged on the Comelec Facebook page on the 2013 barangay elections, facebook.com/ BarangayElections2013.
Video entries should be no longer than three minutes.
Three winners each from Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao will be chosen and will receive cash prizes.
First place winners will receive P10,000, second place P7,000 and third place P5,000.
The contest is open to Filipino citizens 18 years old and over.
Those under 18 may join provided they have the written consent of their parents.
