MANILA, Philippines – Photos of collapsed churches and infrastructure trended online on Tuesday as netizens and media scrambled to get as much information on the devastation caused by a 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit Bohol, Cebu and nearby provinces.
Most shared were photos of the heavily-damaged Loboc Church and Baclayon Church in Bohol. Both centuries-old churches are heritage sites and main tourist attractions in the province.
Others showed a fallen balcony of Gaisano Country Mall in Cebu and Cebu Doctors hospital which caught fire during the earthquake.
On Twitter, Filipinos called the images “heartbreaking” while others asked for prayers.
