MANILA, Philippines – Veering away from the grand and turning its attention to those in need, Globe Telecom’s forthcoming launch of Apple’s latest phones will be used for the benefit of the survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda”, a statement said.
Doing away with a festive launch for the Apple iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, Globe will instead use the event to extend further assistance for the survivors.
“As part of our commitment to help in nation-building efforts after the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda that affected millions of lives, we are doing away with the usual grand launch event for the iPhone and instead use this platform to augment what we’re doing for our kababayans using our GCASH facility,” said Peter Bithos, chief operating adviser for Consumer Business at Globe.
The telecom company will put up a booth where subscribers can send their monetary donations by registering under GCASH via text message.
Using the program, subscribers can send money to support the relief operations of the Philippine National Red Cross.
Aside from cash donations, Globe encourages its customers to bring canned goods, usable clothes, blankets, and mosquito nets.
