Netizens favor pork fund transfer to rehab efforts, poll shows

MANILA, Philippines—When the Senate approved the transfer of funds amounting to P14.6 billion from “pork” funds to Yolanda efforts, a slight majority of Netizens are hoping that the legislators might just distribute the bacon.

In an unofficial online poll by INQUIRER.net, 60.25 percent of the respondents or 1,913 of the total 3,175 votes, are happy with the decision to move the remaining Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to the relief efforts in typhoon-devastated parts of Eastern Visayas.

A total of 1,262 respondents, or 39.75 percent, however do not agree with the move to transfer the funds.

The two Houses of Philippine Legislation have both approved the use of a “supplemental budget” that would be used in the relief efforts in the areas that Supertyphoon ‘‘Yolanda’’ ravaged on November 8.

Also, Malacañang is eager to certify the budget as “urgent” once it passes the Legislative department.
