NBI clearance goes online

MANILA, Philippines—Obtaining a spotless record just got easier.

Beginning January 24, applicants for clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation can just go online instead of lining up for a queue in the bureau’s sites.

According to a statement from the Department of Justice, which now runs the system of the top investigation unit of the country, applicants can log on to www.doj.gov.ph/nbi or www.nbi.gov.ph to register.

“With the implementation of the NBI system, we shall continue to roll-out and implement solutions to progressively eliminate queues and simplify processes,” Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said.

“Online application is the logical next step after the switch.”

The NBI Clearance system is under the National Justice Information System (NJIS) which would link and share information among the sectors under the Judiciary.

“This is just our third full week of operation under our watch but we expect significant progress in the coming weeks with the delivery of additional equipment and increase in personnel,” said NBI Director Virgilio L. Mendez.

Mendez said that the Renewal Module would be implemented next.

Biometrics and the release of the clearance would be done across the 56 NBI sites.
