MANILA, Philippines – The hype over the Oscar-winning song “Let it Go” from Disney’s “Frozen” reached Korea as a viral parody in a television show there tickled netizens.
The television show “Star King” in Korea’s “SBS Network” showed a Korean male performing as the movie’s main character Elsa – with some special effects.
The Korean can be seen lip-syncing to the song while spraying makeshift snow from his hands. The performer seemed to be copying the movie’s main character Elsa in releasing her icy powers while singing.
To add to the effect, two men were also spraying the makeshift snow behind the performer.
What made the video more hilarious is that the camera angles in the parody were similar to that of the movie.
At one point, when Elsa in the movie stomped her feet to form a giant snowflake, the Korean stepped on what appeared to be a snowflake printed on paper.
The viral video has garnered more than 1.2 million views.
“Best parody ever!” netizen Juan Pablo Delgado commented on the video uploaded on Youtube.
“He should get (an) Oscar!” added netizen MrsRubinaX.
Disney’s “Frozen” is a movie about the sisterhood of two princesses Anna and Elsa. Elsa, who became Queen, is gifted with icy powers. The movie was based on Hans Christian Andersen’s story “Snow Queen.”
The song “Let It Go” recently won an Oscars for Best Song while the movie “Frozen” won Best Animated Feature. The song was composed by Filipino-American composer Robert Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez. The voice talent in the movie for Elsa is veteran Broadway actress Idina Menzel.
