MANILA, Philippines – No, Bb. Pilipinas contestants on Sunday night were not asked about alien encounters or their crushes. But last night’s pageant seemed to have resulted in thousands of funny #RejectedBbPilipinas2014Questions, similar to what happened after the essay section of the UP admissions exam in 2012 became popular.

As of Monday morning, the hashtag #RejectedBbPilipinas2014Questions was the top trending topic in the Philippines.

We compiled some of the most retweeted “rejected questions” made popular by Filipino netizens. See our Storify post below.

During the pageant, actress and former beauty queen Melanie Marquez asked, to the delight of the audience, “There’s a saying, there’s a song that says ‘All we need is love, all you need is love.’ Apart from love, what else do you think we need?”

Joanna Angelica Romero, candidate no. 3, said she believed it was “beauty.”

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa was asked by reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler on what “the greatest advantage of being a woman” is.

“The greatest advantage of being a woman is being able to compose herself. Just like here, we’re standing in front of thousands of people, not knowing if you are gonna cheer for us or boo us. But we try to compose ourselves. We keep the emotions and show the beauty that is in us. And tonight, thousands of people are standing here…celebrating the beauty of women,” Lastimosa answered.
