MANILA, Philippines—It may be farewell for one trusted companion.
After being, arguably, one of the most iconic brands of mobile phones, Nokia would bid goodbye in a few days and become Microsoft Mobile.
According to Ars Technica, Nokia’s Device Division would close on April 25 (Houston time), a purchase by Microsoft worth $7.1 billion.
In a leaked letter, Nokia Oyj would become Microsoft Mobile Oy.
“Under the terms of the sale, Microsoft will assume all rights, benefits and obligations of the Nokia Devices and Services, including Nokia’s agreements with suppliers, customers and partners which pertain to the Devices and Services business,” it said on the letter.
Nokia, a Finnish company, used the words “Oyj” and “Oy” in its official branding which is used to refer to the company as a public company.
