Ilocos Norte Representative Rudy Farinas had the “selfie of his life” with Pope Francis, but how he managed to have the rare opportunity to photo shoot the pontiff drew mixed reactions from netizens.
During the double canonization of Pope John Paul II and John XXIII in Vatican City, Farinas posted in his Instagram account a selfie photo with Pope Francis.
However, a video taken by Italy’s Repubblica TV, showed that Farinas took the selfie while the Pope was shaking hands and speaking to Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See, Mercedes Tuazon.
Tuazon seemed to be surprised with the congressman’s gesture but kept on smiling.
Netizens said Farinas’ manners went out the window when he took the selfie.
What could be his “palusot” (lame excuse)?
It could be recalled that during the impeachment trial, the lawmaker coined the word “palusot” when he grilled former Chief Justice Renato Corona over the latter’s unexplained wealth.
Corona was ousted for failing to truthfully declare some of his multi-million assets in his Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net worth (SALN).
