BPO firm offers alternative employment to nursing graduates

MANILA, Philippines – With the excessive number of unemployed nursing graduates in the country, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company is offering jobs for them in the firm.

Accenture recently announced its alternative and progressive career path offering for Filipino nurses through the Care Management Services.

Business Process Outsourcing Service Delivery Operations Head Benedict Hernandez said that nurses may capitalize on their degree and experience and at the same time “enjoy benefits that are globally competitive.”

For its health insurance clients, Accenture provides BPO services that focus on care management support, providing programs and services designed to improve health outcomes for different patient populations, and performing enrolment functions related to client’s medical insurance plans and client-defined programs and services, said Hernandez.

Hernandez said Accenture Care Management Services has three programs: Utilization management, disease management and health outreach program for wellness.

Tasks under the Utilization management services include “the administrative process of managing a patient’s access to services and appropriate level of care which includes medical necessity determination, while the Disease management focuses on the “prevention of complications and standardization of care for patients who suffer from chronic conditions,” said Hernandez.

Meanwhile, the health outreach program for wellness provides “coaching” patients to lead healthier lifestyles, he said.

Accenture is now accepting applications for nurses with no clinical experience, Philippine-licensed nurses, US- licensed nurses and nurses with clinical experience but has yet to acquire a license. A “very attractive” compensation awaits successful applicants, Hernandez said.

Accenture currently has “several hundreds” employed for their Care Management Services program, he said.

The Philippines is the “pioneer” for this endeavor and is a “strategic growth area for Accenture global and Accenture Philippines,” said Accenture Senior Executive Sanjay Seth.

The Care Management BPO is under the umbrella of Accenture’s Health BPO Services which manage the core processes of health insurance companies from enrolment of members to managing the claims process and their network of hospitals and clinics.

Accenture has more than 223,000 people serving clients in more than 120 countries. In the Philippines, Accenture currently employs more than 21,000 people in two Accenture Delivery Centers based in Manila and Cebu.
