Google calling on Filipino kids to create doodles

MANILA, Philippines— Google Philippines has launched a competition to find raw talents and give scholarships for the less fortunate among the Filipino youth.

Dubbed “Doodle 4 Google (D4G)”, the contest gives an opportunity to kids out there to be creative online and offline by creating their own logo for Google Philippines homepage.

With the theme “What can I do for the Philippines?” the contest in making doodle art is open to Filipino students and those not in formal schooling aged 5 to 17.

Entries to the competition are divided into four groups in corresponding age brackets, 5-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-14 years old and 15-17 years old. Student or learner must be a Filipino citizen residing in the Philippines on the date of submission.

“We look forward to inspiring the nation with a doodle that will not only reflect the beautiful synergy between art and technology, but also speak of the beautiful spirit of selflessness and service of the Filipino people through the eyes of our children,” said Ryan Morales, Country Marketing Manager for Google Philippines, in a statement.

BPI foundation, PLDT-Smart Foundation, National Book Store and WeeWillDoodle, a group of artists who believe in the power of doodles, are partners of Doodle 4 Google. It is also supported by DepEd and National Youth Commission, which were represented by actor Dingdong Dantes, the Assistant Secretary of NYC.

Prizes await the deserving and talented artists plus the chance of seeing his doodle art on the Google Philippines homepage for 24 hours.

Eligible participants are required to download the application form online to qualify. Entries can be submitted through the site or through a postal mail.
